It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Paul Laurence Dunbar School, where our motto is:  We Will Teach the Way Your Child Learns.  As the Instructional Leader of this school, it is my educational duty to ensure that our students receive a clear, focused and high quality education; which can only be measured by the success of our students.

We have high expectations in the classroom and around the campus at Dunbar. We are a community of independent learners that promote academic excellence. We cannot afford to lower the bar.  Our students must be able to compete not just with students in East Saint Louis or Illinois, our students must be able to compete with students across the globe.

The success of this school year requires patience, hard work, team work and dedication as we continue to set high goals and expectations for all of our students.  Please work at home with your child often and encourage them as they encounter new learning tasks.  I look forward to continuing to work with you this school year and many school years to come. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at 618.646.3841 or email me at carlynda.coleman@estl189.com.
