My name is Roshonda Harriel and I have been working in the education field for 11 years. I have taught in grades K-2. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 2005. I graduated from Lindenwood University with my Masters in Education with a Reading Endorsement in 2010. In 2014, I received my Gifted and Talented Certification.
I have had the opportunity to work with exceptional educators and teach so many diverse, talented, and exceptional students over the years. I strive for excellence and hold all of my students accountable for the action. I am firm believer in overcoming obstacles and solving everyday problems by making the right choice, allowing children to think, reflect, discuss, and debate the problem at hand. It is my duty to teach them, expose them, and help them develop their wisdom.
The goal of the education is not just to teach, it is to develop, nourish, and produce productive, intellectual, and caring citizens. It becomes the teacher’s responsibility to provide the students with the skills needed to survive and excel in the world. As an educator it is my duty to enhance and develop my student’s abilities and challenge them to see what they are capable of. It is my responsibility to help prepare the students for the future and to help shape and guide their path in life. My goal is for my students to become lifelong learners and achievers. I will equip them with the social and emotional support that the need to become our future leaders.
